National Heatstroke Prevention Day

Child deaths due to heatstroke is now at 23 across the nation, one of the highest at this point in time compared to all other years that this number has been tracked since 1998 (sources: Safe Kids Worldwide, meteorologist Jan Null with San Jose University, noheatstroke.org). July and August are considered the critical months for heatstroke deaths, and July 31^st will mark National Heatstroke Prevention Day. Please help us spread the word on your respective social media pages with the following post (or similar), along with the attached flyer on Sunday, July 31^st.
 
July and August are critical months when incidences of heatstroke in children are the highest. Please take precautions to prevent this in your home:

1. If you have toddlers, please lock all your parked vehicles and place keys out of reach so they are not tempted to play in vehicles and become trapped.
2. Infants may get left in vehicles when parents and caregivers deviate from normal routine. If you are normally the parent who drops off your child, but have to have someone else do it one day, notify your daycare and ask them to contact you if Baby Jane doesn’t arrive by xx:xx time. Also check in with person dropping off child to insure all went well.
3. NEVER leave a child alone in the car!
