Ribbon Cutting for the School Based Health Center

Ribbon Cutting & ground breaking ceremonies are a free service that we provide to Chamber Members only. These events offer new business the chance to invite members, the Board of Directors, Diplomats, and City and County officials to their location as well as speak about their business.

ABOUT the School Based Health Center

The Douglas County School System is proud to announce the opening of the first School Based Health Center (SBHC). The SBHC is like having a doctor's office in the school. It will provide onsite acute and chronic illness care for children enrolled at Burnett and Eastside Elementary Schools, their siblings ages 3-18, and those children identified as homeless throughout the district. The Douglas County School System recognizes that medical and mental health services contribute to good health and increased student achievement.

The SBHC will provide:

• Evaluation and treatment of common health problems such as flu, strep, asthma, and diabetes
• Preventative health care
• Annual physicals
• Immunizations
• Laboratory services
• Health and nutrition education
• Sports physicals
