Director of Finance and Human Resources 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:    

Oversees operations of the school through budget and fiscal functions, policies and procedures, human resource functions and systems procurement 


REQUIREMENTS: 

Education Level: High School Graduate required.  Related degree preferred 

Certification/License Current CPR Certification required 

Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities, lifting objects of 30 pounds 

Proficient Skills: Computer and bookkeeping/record keeping skills; general knowledge of all office equipment; maintain confidentiality; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and the community, ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations including confrontation 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

(Finance and Operations) 

  • Demonstrates professionalism and ethical behavior at all times. 

  • Manages and maintains all bank accounts and records of school accounts. 

  • Collaborates with CFO to make sure revenue is posted, bank reconciliations are completed, and variances in budget versus actual are researched and resolved 

  • Collaborates with CFO and Finance Committee to complete annual audit, tax filings and 990 filings 

  • Works with Superintendent/Executive Director to create and manage annual budget 

  • Serves on Finance committee of Governing Board 

  • Processes accounts payable and accounts receivable and administration of other financial processes, including pre-audit preparation. 

  • Manages administration of procurement. 

  • Manages selection process of vendors/brokers for benefits (insurance (property, health, and liability),  office/ supplies, etc.  

  • Manages all payroll responsibilities including relationship with payroll service, W-2 and 1099 distribution, time sheet management, and filing of related documents using binder system. 

  • Oversees the onboarding process for new hires by retaining HR paperwork (W-4, I-9s, handbook, review policies, new hire letters, direct deposit) 

  • Tracks all fundraising expenses and revenues by category and provides monthly update to school administration and governing board 

  • Corresponds with donors and prospects including thank you letters and tax information 

  • Manages staff including Receptionist, Student Services Coordinator, and Employee Services Supervisor 

  • Oversees management of all personnel records. 

  • Processes school related reports (CPI, FTE, OCR, CCRPI) in a timely and accurate manner. 

  • Generates reports and provides information related to the charter or business operations. 

  • Manages grants administration. 

  • Maintains confidentiality at all times required by FERPA and HIPAA by refraining from speaking or communicating around unauthorized individuals. 

  • Manages and monitors all Open records requests and records retention schedules 

  • Reviews Staff and Parent Handbook yearly for compliance and updates 

 

(Student Services) 

  •  Oversees the updates of student information in the areas of academics, personal contact info, health and emergency info, and parental permission 
  • Audits content of student information is accurate and organized and filed as required by State and Federal Law 

  • Coordinates academic data entry by teachers for report cards 

  • Coordinates field trips with teachers and makes sure transportation is arranged 

  • Ensures student enrollment is at the correct student count 

  • Oversees the student waiting lists in accordance with State law and Board policy 

  • Manages and organizes student lottery to ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws and Board Policy 

  • Oversees student transfer/withdrawal paperwork  

  • Monitors and manages all student records including attendance, registration, and permanent record information 

  • Oversees and monitors the school clinic in compliance with safety regulations and reports data as required. 

  •  Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent/Executive Director. 

 

Reports to: Superintendent / Executive Director 

Terms of Employment: Equivalent of 240 days 

Salary Range: Exempt – placed on Non-Administrator Salary Schedule H – based on experience
