Purpose of the Position: Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff within the Douglasville Public Health Center. Provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures in the areas of Immunizations, Child Health Screenings, Women’s Health, Sexual Health, HIV Prevention, Hypertension and others. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs in case of disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols. Responsible for daily operations and employees. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.
 
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):
·         Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines and provides preventive and maintenance care to patient/families consistent with care plan and/or physician treatment plan.
·         Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
·         Participates in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
·     Supervises and plans work of assigned staff.
 
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 3 (HCP192) or position equivalent.
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR an Associate Degree in Nursing with completion of a Physical Assessment course. Demonstrated professional experience in public health nursing and/or clinical management is preferred. At least one year of supervisory experience, including leadership and staff mentorship, is required. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
 
Work Conditions & Physical Demands: This position does not require a great deal of physical exertion. May require some lifting, but no more than 50 lbs. Not always a sedentary position will require some walking to/from and in/out of chair. It does require flexibility of working in various areas of the clinic when necessary, and some outreach. Confidentiality and precise data entry is a must. Punctuality and assigned work schedule.
 
Salary Information: $76,218.42 Annually | Pay Grade N
