Douglas County Chamber – Events Intern 

 

 

Summary: This paid part-time internship provides administrative support to the Program & Events Coordinator for the Douglas County Chamber (DCC). This position will not exceed 25 hours per week.This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in event management, business engagement, nonprofit operations, and community programming within a fast-paced chamber of commerce environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Provide administrative and project support to the Program & Events Coordinator

  • Assist with management and maintenance of events & programming calendars for DCC 

  • Assist with event registration and provide customer servicefor event registration  

  • Assist with event preparation and learn Chamber operations and event management. 

  • Assist with event set-up  

  • Provide administrative support to staff as directed by Events staff

This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict other tasks that may be assigned.Flexible daytime hours are available; however, occasional early morning, evening, or off-site event support may be required. 

 

Accountability   

This position reports directly to the Program & Events Coordinator. Assigned work is performed independently with oversight from the Program & Events Coordinator. The individual in this position must exercise initiative and judgment in the performance of duties.   

 

Qualifications 

Preferred candidates are pursuing studies in communications, marketing, hospitality, business administration, nonprofit management, event management, or related fields. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Computer Skills 

To perform this job successfully, this position should have experience with:  

  • Windows Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 

  • Project Management Systems such as Monday, Asana, or Basecamp 

  • Canva (preferred, not required) 

  • Email Marketing Platforms (preferred, not required) 

 

Job Knowledge/Skills  

  • Be detail oriented and well-organized 

  • Have strong customer service focus and relationship-building abilities 

  • Show comfort in both oral and written communications 

  • Ability to work both in teams and independently 

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively with a high degree of accuracy 

  • Ability to consistently meet project deliverables and deadlines  

  • Willingness to learn
